About Us
Founded in 2023, The Argosy is a student newspaper created to give talented young writers—and students with a commitment to the public good—a serious forum for ideas.
We are generously funded by Herbart Kita Publishing, a small independent house with a passion for student work and “learning by doing.” Their support allows us to focus on what matters most: reporting with clarity, editing with care, and publishing with integrity—without chasing clicks or trends.
What We Stand For
Our newsroom is built on three promises:
Independence. We choose our stories and our words. Editorial decisions are made by editors and writers, not by algorithms or advertisers.
Depth. We prefer analysis over noise. Our pieces bring context, evidence, and follow-through—so readers understand not just what happened, but why it matters.
Craft. Every sentence should earn its place. We prize strong arguments, precise language, and careful sourcing.
Our Scope
The Argosy covers politics, culture, sports, health, economics & finance, business, technology, sustainability, and student affairs. We welcome diverse viewpoints and aim to model good-faith argument—firm in judgment, fair in tone.
How We Work
Writers pitch, revise, and fact-check with editors in a process designed to mirror professional newsrooms. Mentorship is hands-on. Feedback is candid. Publication is earned.
Why “Argosy”?
An “argosy” is a great ship laden with goods. We like the metaphor: a vessel built by many hands, carrying ideas across distance, meant to be shared.

Letter from the Editor-in-Chief
When we launched The Argosy, our aim was simple but ambitious: to give students a real newsroom— a place where ideas, stories, and debate could flourish. We wanted to create more than just a school paper. We wanted a forum where curiosity meets craft, where sharp reporting and thoughtful essays live side by side.
Looking ahead, I hope this publication grows into a trusted voice for our community and beyond: a place readers turn to for clear-eyed reporting, for context that matters, and for writing that sparks conversation long after the browser tab is closed. I want The Argosy to be a training ground for young journalists and a permanent fixture in the cultural life of our school.
None of this happens by accident. It takes late nights of editing, endless drafts, photo shoots in the rain, and the quiet persistence of a dedicated team. To every writer, editor, designer, photographer, and to the organizations and mentors who support us—thank you. Your talent and grit give these pages their heartbeat.
