Newspaper in Education
Newspaper in Education is The Argosy's free program for elementary and middle school students. We turn our own articles into workbooks that students fill out, so a real piece of journalism becomes a lesson in reading, reporting, and thinking it through.
Who It's For
The workbooks are written for elementary and middle school students, and they are free for any teacher or parent to use. The program exists to put good instructional material in more hands at no cost.
How It Works
Everything runs online and at your own pace. Teachers or parents download an article and its worksheet, and students use them to write reports and practice critical thinking. There is no schedule to keep and nothing to sign up for.
Every worksheet is built from an Argosy editor's own article, and each editor's worksheets have their own style, so no two desks teach quite the same way. Our editors donate their time to the program.
The Worksheets
Each worksheet opens as a printable page and comes with a ready-to-print PDF and an answer key for teachers and parents. Or download all of them together as the Argosy Workbook (PDF).
